Veterans Day Ceremony

The Tucker County Veterans Association will have the annual Veterans Day ceremony at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 11 at the Memorial Wall located at the intersection of US219 and WV72.

Historic Landmark Commission Meeting

The Tucker County Historic Landmark Commission is having a meeting on Tuesday, November 13 at 5 p.m. in the Tucker County Historical Society Museum. The Public is invited to attended.

Christmas House Tours

PRO ON TRAC will again be hosting Christmas House Tours this year on Friday, December 7 from 6 – 9 p.m. and Saturday morning, December 8 from 9 a.m.-noon. Three homes and one Historical Building will be decorated for the holidays and open to the public. Locations can be toured in any order on any date or combination of days. Tickets will be on sale beginning November 15 at City Hall and Shop ‘N Save for $7 each (good for all locations) and also at each home on the dates and times of the tours for $10. All proceeds will be used in the on-going revitalization of downtown Parsons. Watch for featured homes each week in the Advocate beginning Nov. 14.

Annual Veterans Day Reception

Canaan Valley Fire Department and Auxiliary will host the ANNUAL VETERANS DAY RECEPTION on NOVEMBER 11, 2018 AT THE CANAAN VALLEY FIRE HALLn from 2 TO 4 p.m. The Canaan Woman’s Club is a co-sponsor. It is open to all veterans living in area and visiting also.

Parsons High School Alumni Association Meeting

The Parsons High School Alumni Association will meet on Thursday, November 8, at Little Andi’s Restaurant, in Parsons, at 5 p.m.Plans are in the process for the annual
PHS alumni weekend for May 2019 and your input is necessary for ther agenda.

Happenings at CVNWR

Saturday, November 10, 10 am. Voyages in the Valley – Stream Restoration. – Join us for a walk at Idlemans Run where we will discuss stream restoration, how its accomplished, and why Idlemans is an excellent example of what can be achieved. Meet at the Visitor Center.

Annual Pork Steak Dinner

ANNUAL PORK STEAK DINNER on NOVEMBER 17, at the American Legion Hall in Pickens, form 2 to 6 p.m.
$12, Children under 12 $5. Pork Steak, Mashed Potatoes, Gravy, Green Beans, Cole Slaw, Applesauce, Hot Rolls, Dessert, Drinks. Sponsored by Pickens American Legion Post 122. Proceeds are used for upkeep on the American Legion Hall. Everyone welcome.

Friends of Cortland Acres Meeting

Raisin Filled and Peanut Butter Cookies

St. John’s United Methodist Women and Win-One Class are baking Raisin Filled Cookies and Peanut Butter Cookies on Nov. 15 and 16. Get a dozen for a $7 donation by calling Sally at 304-478-3507.

Buckwheat Dinner

St. John’s United Methodist Men Buckwheat Dinner on Sat., Nov. 10 from 4 – 7 p.m. All you can eat for an $8 donation. Includes sausage, gravy and biscuits.

Homecoming Celebration

The Davis Church of God will have a Homecoming Celebration Service at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 11. Special speaker Rev. Larry Idleman.

4-H Sausage Feed

Tucker County 4-H Leader’s Association Sausage Feed will be fron 4 – 7 p.m. on Nov. 17 at the First United Methodist Church in Parsons. Biscuits, gravy, homefries, fruit cup and drink $6, single biscuit and gravy $2. Bake sale items and country meat stick will be available for purchase. Proceedes benefit the 4-H program. Hog donated by Dr. Anne Banfield. Everyone welcome.
