PARSONS – Tucker County hosted Southern Garrett, MD last Friday October 12th on Senior Night. The Mt. Lions could not overcome a 14-7 halftime deficit and the Rams outscored Tucker County 21-7 in the second half to get the win over Tucker County 35-14.


Tucker County kicked off to Southern to start the game. The Rams wasted no time as they scored on a 70 yard touchdown run to take the lead 7-0 after a successful PAT kick. Tucker County failed to move the ball on their first possession and punted the ball back to Southern. The Rams also had their drive stall out and Tucker County got the ball back again. The Mt. Lions then went to work on offense from their own 20 yard line. Tucker County’s Liam Hood then connected with Ben Cromer on an 80 yard touchdown pass. The Ben Callaway extra point kick was good to make the score 7-7. The first quarter ended with the same score 7-7. In the second quarter Southern would strike again with a 22 yard touchdown run with 10:00 min left in the second to give the Rams the lead 14-7 after the PAT kick. After an exchange of punts by both teams Southern put together a drive late in the second. The Rams marched the ball down to the Tucker County 1 yard line, but the Mt. Lions held Southern out of the end zone before the half to make the halftime score 14-7 Southern.

Tucker County received the kick to start the third quarter, but the Rams intercepted a Liam Hood pass to give Southern the ball at the Tucker County 21 yard line. Southern then capitalized with a 4 yard touchdown run to make the score 21-7 Southern. The Rams defense stepped up after a Tucker County fumble was recovered by Southern on the Rams 48. The visitors then scored again before the third ended on a 32 yard rushing touchdown to make the score 28-7 Southern after three quarters. The Mt. Lions then drove the ball down deep in Southern territory, but another Rams interception ended the Tucker County drive. Southern added another score on a 36 yard rushing touchdown to push the lead to 35-7 Southern. The Mt. Lions added a late touchdown on a full back pass play by Cole Rapp to Ben Cromer from 3 yards out to end the scoring on the night and make the final score 35-14 Southern.

Liam Hood led Tucker County with 13 of 35 passing for 200 yards and Ben Cromer had 3 receptions for 83 yards receiving. Cole Rapp chipped in with 7 carries for 23 yards rushing. Southern ended the night with 362 yard rushing. Tucker County honored their Senior football players and fall athletes before the game. These athletes are as follows: Ben Cromer, Ben Callaway, Cole Rapp, Gariet Pennington, Jeffrey Snyder, Byron Gidley, Owen Poling, Seth Cangley, Andrew Moore, Mark Barnes, Zach Frymyer, Cameron Wamsley, Chris Chambers, Nick Lewandowski, Jon Rhodes, John Anderson, Inza Pacella and Michaela Frame.
