Local prescription drug forum
Join the Tucker County Family Resource prescription drug forum at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 2 at the senior center in Parsons.
Your participation in the forum will help the organization identify the problems regarding prescription drug abuse in Tucker County. Most importantly your input will also help find solutions for issues facing the community.
There will be door prizes and refreshments for participants. For questions or more information contact April Miller at 304-478-3827.

Refuge Artists Assemble

Little Miss Mountain Lion

Music at Timberline Resort
Donnie Hoard will appear at Timberline Four Seasons Resort at 7 p.m. Sept. 3, 4, and 5. He first appeared when he was 9 yrs old on Jamboree USA with his brother Roger. Donny has been a member with various bands across the country including the “Other Brothers,” the “1170 Band” and Jamboree USA Staff bands.

Saturday, Sept. 4

Parsons Senior Center Breakfast
The Parsons Lions Club will sponsor a breakfast from 7 – 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 4 at the Parsons Senior Center. The cost is $7 for adults, $3 for children 12 and under. Featured on the menu are sausage gravy and biscuits, scrambled eggs, French toast, home fries, fruit, juice and coffee.

Golf Tournament Labor Day weekend
The Neil Gutshall Memorial Golf Tournament will be held Sept. 4 and 5 at the Holly Meadows Golf Course.
Two man scramble format, $50 per person for members and $75 per person for non-members. Food and refreshments are included. Shotgun starts at 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. both days. Call (304) 478-3406 to reserve your Saturday tee time and rental carts.
There will be live music on Saturday, Sept. 4 from 5 to 9 p.m.

Ruritans to host Hick Fair
To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Hendricks Ruritan Club, an elimination dinner featuring Hick Festival chicken and slaw will be held at Camp Kidd at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 4. The Tucker County Veterans will raise the flag at 9:30 a.m. and starting at 9:45 a.m. there will be horseshoe pitching, and events for children including bicycle racing, tug of war, egg throw, and ice cream eating contests for kids and adults.
Live musical entertainment will be provided from noon to 1:30 p.m. for everyone. As always, admission is free although donations are welcome. For those not attending the elimination dinner in the main dining hall, take out chicken dinners will be available.

Two art events on Sept 4
The Studio Gallery located at 358 William Ave in Davis will host an afternoon open house from 1 to 6 p.m. Saturday Sept. 4 to celebrate its opening. Come by and refresh yourself with great snacks and great art.
In the evening from 7-10 p.m. The White Room art gallery will host an anniversary party at 14 Front St. in Thomas. Come and join the festivities. Excessively fancy dress encouraged but not required for this party.
Making a day of art galleries? Don’t forget to stop by the Highlands Artisans Gallery in Davis and Mountain Made Gallery in Thomas.

Rowlesburg 6th Annual Railroad Day
From noon to 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 4 Rowlesburg will hold its Annual Railroad Day. Food and music will be offered in the Rowlesburg Park, the fire station and the depot all day.

TCHS open house
Invitation to all high school parents: Tucker County High School will host an open house from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 9. This is a wonderful opportunity for you to meet your child’s teachers and to learn class goals, expectations, and practices. GEAR UP will also be presenting on the school’s Ed Line program where parents and students can access student grades, assignments, and class announcements. Light refreshments will be available.

Adult Basic Education classes

Cake walk in Davis
The Rebekah’s will be holding a cake walk at 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 11 at the Rebekah Lodge Hall on Fifth Street in Davis. Everyone is welcome.

Wild ‘n Wooly Fiber Festival
West Virginia’s Wild ‘n Wooly Fiber Festival will be held on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 11 and 12 in Reedsville.
Come to the West Virginia University Reedsville Arena for an incredible weekend of fiber, friends and fun.This festival gives fiber producers, fiber artists and fiber processors an opportunity to display and sell their products, services, livestock and equipment.

Life Line Screening at Church of God
Residents living in and around the Parsons community can be screened to reduce their risk of having a stroke or bone fracture.The Parsons Church of God, 507 Central Avenue, will host Life Line Screening on Sept. 14. Appointments will begin at 10 a.m.

Run for It
