DUNMORE – The Mountain Lions went 13 days since their last game, but there was no sign of rust in their game. Tucker County traveled to Pocahontas County on Saturday Jan 11th and dominated the Warriors to get the road victory 72-27.
Tucker County scored 16 points in the first quarter and held the home Warriors to just 9 points to lead after one 16-9. The offense continued to roll and the defense locked down Pocahontas County in the second quarter. The Mountain Lions outscored Pocahontas County 20-4 to take a commanding 36-13 lead at the half.
The struggles continued for the home team in the second half as Tucker County dominated Pocahontas County the third quarter to lead 55-20 after the third. In the fourth quarter the trend continued as the Mt. Lions outscored the Warriors 17-7 to pick up the blowout road victory 72-27.
Ian Nichols finished with 31 points and 14 rebounds for Tucker County and also surpassed 1,000 points for his career at TCHS. Austin Zirk finished the game with 9 points for the Mt. Lions. In the JV contest Marcus Mason had 19 points and Andrew Hauser added 15 points to lead Tucker County to the win 67-53. The JV team moved to 5-0 on the season with the victory.
The Mt. Lions(6-1) will travel to Southern, MD tonight Jan 15th game time will be 7:30pm.
