ELKINS – The Lady Mountain Lions are just one game away from a sixth consecutive appearance in the state basketball tournament.
Tucker County won a delayed Region II Section II final Monday night, beating East Hardy 61-44 in a game that wasn’t that close. The victory sets up a showdown with Clay Battelle (12-7) tonight, with the game starting at 7 p.m. at Tucker County High School.
Cee Bees coaches were on hand at Elkins High School, and they witnessed a fantastic stretch of basketball that included a 28-2 run from midway through the first quarter until late in the second.
“The first three or four minutes we definitely showed a little bit of rust,” Coach Tom Carr said of the period where Tucker County led just 8-6.
